Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology course deals with prognosis, diagnosis, and follow-up through the use of clinical laboratory tests.
During the course, students learn different test procedures starting with collection of patient information, sampling, testing, reporting and documentation and ultimately paving way for the doctors to treat their patients. Students receive hands-on training at our constituent Regency Hospitals to work as a full-fledged lab technologist. The lab technician course covers elements of blood bank management, materials management, supply chain management as well as lab information system management.
Objective
On successful completion of the program the student should be able to:
- To educate and train students about sample collection techniques for routine and specialized tests, and thereafter conduct the required diagnostic tests, followed with an analysis of the outcome.
- To inculcate the required skills and knowledge during the course study.
- To acquire knowledge about laboratory procedures (theory and applied learning components) and quality control.
- To attain requisite knowledge about handling, maintenance and disinfection of medical laboratory equipment.
- To provide training in the blood bank and basic hematology and clinical biochemistry.
